At Vedam India Metallurgical Research Laboratory Pvt. Ltd., we have built multi-disciplinary research and testing facility that integrates metallurgy, corrosion science, microbiology, and non-destructive testing (NDT) under a single platform. Designed to serve both cutting-edge R&D and high-precision industrial diagnostics, our infrastructure supports a wide range of applications — from rare earth recovery to weld development, corrosion mitigation, and microbial engineering.

Our laboratory is fully equipped to support government-funded research, academic collaborations, industrial quality control, and pilot-scale innovation.

1. Metallurgical & Materials Science Laboratory: Focused on alloy development, filler material testing, and structural analysis.

Key Equipment:

  • Metallurgical Microscopes (Brightfield, Inverted, Polarized)

  • Hot Mounting & Cold Mounting Presses

  • Precision Cutting Machines and Polishers

  • Muffle Furnace (upto 1100°C) for heat treatment studies

    (Critical for filler material development in GTAW of Super Duplex Stainless Steel)

2. Corrosion Testing & Electrochemical Analysis Facility: Simulates real-world corrosion conditions and provides data for material selection and performance prediction.

  • Potentiostat/Galvanostat Systems for Tafel, EIS, LPR

  • Salt Spray Chambers (ASTM B117 compliant) for accelerated corrosion testing

  • pH-Controlled Immersion Testing

  • Electrochemical Noise Analysis (ENA)

  • Surface Roughness and Pit Depth Mapping

3. Microbiology & Molecular Engineering Laboratory: Enables microbial manipulation and bio-process optimization for green metal recovery.

4. Green Extraction & E-Waste Processing Facility: Dedicated to bioleaching and metabolite-driven metal recovery, especially from e-waste and display waste.

5. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) & Failure Analysis: Supports industry with non-invasive, real-time assessment of material integrity, weld quality, and surface discontinuities.

  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT) – for internal flaws and thickness mapping

  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT) – surface and near-surface discontinuity detection

  • Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT) – crack detection in non-porous materials

  • Radiographic Interpretation (in collaboration with partner labs)

  • Visual Weld Inspection with High-Magnification Tools

  • Failure Analysis of Components – root cause identification for cracks, fatigue, corrosion failures
